6Telecommunications (Security) Bill: Programme (No. 3)

Ordered, That the following provisions shall apply to the Telecommunications (Security) Bill for the purpose of supplementing the Order of 30 November 2020 in the last Session of Parliament (Telecommunications (Security) Bill (Programme)), as varied by the Order of 17 December 2020 in that Session (Telecommunications (Security) Bill (Programme) (No. 2)):

Consideration of Lords Amendments

(1) Proceedings on consideration of Lords Amendments shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion one hour after their commencement.

(2) The proceedings shall be taken in the following order: Lords Amendments 4, 5, 1, 2, 3.

Subsequent stages

(3) Any further Message from the Lords may be considered forthwith without any Question being put.

11Telecommunications (Security) Bill: Reasons Committee

Julia Lopez reported that the Committee had agreed the following Reasons:

Lords Amendment 4

Because the Commons consider it appropriate and sufficient for oversight and scrutiny of decisions made by the Secretary of State for DCMS in relation to telecommunications diversification to be conducted by the departmental select committee.

Lords Amendment 5

Because the Commons consider it inappropriate to specify the steps to be taken by the Secretary of State where decisions in relation to telecommunications vendors are taken on national security grounds by other countries.

The Reasons were agreed to.
